North Korea and Russia sign a military deal that says they will help each other if someone attacks.
South Korea called the Russian minister to Seoul this past Friday (21), after North Korea and Russia signed a defense deal on Wednesday that says they will help each other if they are attacked. Thursday, while in Vietnam, Russian President Vladimir Putin also said he would send weapons to North Korea if the South Korean government said it was thinking about sending weapons to Ukraine.
Because Western weapons were sent to Kiev and the US gave the Ukrainian government permission to attack Russian territory with Western rockets, Vladimir Putin had already promised to send weapons to other countries in early June.
Washington was very worried about what Putin said because they said it could make the Korean peninsula less stable. Vietnam is the last stop on the Russian president’s trip through Asia. His first stop was North Korea. In Pyongyang, he announced a military deal between the two countries that was criticized by the West.
The South Korean army also said on Friday that it had fired warning shots after North Korean forces briefly crossed the border the day before. Since the beginning of June, this is the third attack of this type.
